2008 PRICING
Prices (and quality) vary considerably in this business. I believe
I set my prices fairly based on the many hours I spend finishing and painting each and
every fish. I have an artistic background and I am a very detail-oriented person. I take
pride in my work and I do my best to make every mount look as realistic as when you first
caught it. From the custom hand-carved bodies to the all important details when painting.
Simply put, I take the time to do it right. Your fish is important to you and therefore it
is important to me. I treat every mount as an individual piece of Art. There are no
“assembly lines” in my shop. I think we’ve all seen poorly mounted fish in unnatural
positions. Or, one or two years down the road the fins start fraying or the gloss begins
to crack. Or worse, oils start leaking from improper degreasing techniques. Now, what kind
of money is “saved” if you’re ashamed to display your fish or it eventually ends up in the
garbage? You can rest assured that you can proudly display your trophy for years to come
with absolutely no problems. In fact, I guarantee it!

I ONLY use the highest
quality, most expensive replica (“blanks”)
available today in the United States and in
Canada. A quality replica starts out with a
quality blank. Some taxidermists create their
own blanks. But, their variety is somewhat
limited. And everybody in their area has the
exact same replica hanging on their walls! The
distributors have perfected their casting and
molding techniques and their variety of sizes
and positions (and quality) is unmatched. All
that is needed to order a replica is an
approximate length measurement. A girth
measurement (or weight) is not absolutely
necessary, but it will help to provide a more
accurate representation of the size of your
fish. Then, I finish and paint the blank to your
specifications. A good photo of the freshly
caught fish will help immensely. Or, if no photo
is available, I have plenty of photos of live
fish in various color phases for you to choose
from.

Restorations/Repairs/Repaints & Cleaning:
- More often than not, damaged mounts are much easier to repair than most people think.
I’ve had customers bring me mounts sometimes in many pieces. And they are amazed when
they pick up their repaired mount looking BETTER than BEFORE it was damaged! Often, minor
repairs such as broken or cracked fins and/or paint touch-ups along with a good cleaning
and re-glossing can do wonders for an old mount for a relatively small fee. Feel free to
call or email me photos of your damaged mounts for a free estimate.
- Re-paints are another specialty of mine! It’s been said a quality paintjob can make a poor mount look good.
Quite often, simply touching up the whites and adding a few colors and details here and there can do wonders
for a mount. Sometimes however, the best thing to do is to strip the old paint and re-paint the whole fish.
Again, many times the cost is much less than one would think. Feel free to call or email me photos of your
mount for a free estimate.
